Israel is planning to work in Rajasthan in cooperation with the local authorities on issues like water quality and agriculture.
Ambassador of Israel to India Mark Sofer discussed the issue in detail with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at a meeting here.
Earlier to the meeting, Sofer told reporters that Israeli mission to India was planning to initiate works in the desert state to improve quality of water and agriculture, and also wants to set up a centre of excellence to educate and train farmers on advance technologies and techniques.
"Our main thrust in the first stage will be on water and agriculture related crucial issues which included purifying and recycling of sewage water for reuse, salinity, creating new water sources, improve farming etc.," Sofer said.
"We are also planning to work on growing vegetable crops in the desert state though it is not very easy but it can be done as we did in Israel by using advance technologies," he said adding animal husbandry and dairy farming would be included later.
If Free Trade Agreement between Israel and India takes place it would triple trade between the two countries, the Israeli Ambassador to India said.
"Experts from International companies have found that if we have free trade agreement with India, trade will triple and will be followed by increased joint ventures and employment opportunities," Sofer said.
He said that Israeli companies have huge investments in India in dairy and farming, real estate and other sectors and there are equal trade and utility potential for both the countries.
On issue of terrorism, Sofer said this crucial issue must be addressed internationally as many countries are suffering from the problem of terrorism.
"In today's world, it is not only India but US, Russia and other countries are also affected by terrorism so all the civilized countries today need to work together to tackle the issue by exchanging informations, technologies etc.," he said.
